Immersion Day

YoucaAction Day, a day where young people work or participate in a company or organization. The "wages" we earn are used to support youth activists in Peru in their mission: protecting the Amazon rainforest.

Today I had the unique opportunity to fully immerse myself in corporate and business law at LegalDirect. I learned more about the Belgian legal system and what a real-life lawyer's day looks like. The best part of the day? Attending a public hearing. Besides witnessing oral arguments up close, I even got to wear a robe. Perhaps it was a harbinger of things to come, because this day further convinced me that law school is for me. I discovered that the work is varied, and a lawyer must be able to constantly switch between cases. Admirable!

A lawyer's day is nothing like the movies, but perhaps even more fascinating. Watching the oral arguments taught me that the legal profession is based on respect and presenting strong, persuasive arguments.

This day was an extraordinary opportunity to get a taste of the legal world and experience it firsthand. A huge thank you to Leïla Drake and the wonderful team!
